On Friday, rapper and singer Doechii announced that she signed to Top Dawg Entertainment and released new single “Persuasive” to celebrate.
The Age of Doechii is here. On Friday, the Tampa-bred rapper-singer announced that she’s the latest addition to Top Dawg Entertainment, also releasing surprise Kal Banks-produced track “Persuasive”. Previously rumored to be joining TDE, Doechii confirmed that she’s the label’s first woman rapper.
“I’m excited to run with Top Dawg – to work, to have a home for my overflowing ideas,” Doechii said in a statement. “I want to create a new vision, a new lane, and so much music. Everyone is invited to the Doechii dominance.”
Originally going by iamdoechii, the rapper-singer is no stranger to collaborating with artists from the TDE clique. She was featured alongside Isaiah Rashad on “Wat U Sed” from his 2021 album The House Is Burning and also opened for SZA as part of her Good Days tour last year.
“Top Dawg Entertainment is all about growth and expansion and providing a platform for talented artists to express their art. With that being said I’d like to welcome Doechii to the TDE team,” TDE founder Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith said of the newest artist on his roster. “Doechii’s energy is infectious and I’m excited to see her blossom and share her gifts with the world.”
TDE President Moosa Tiffith also commented on the signing. “Hearing Doechii I knew immediately this woman is a star. Her talent is boundless, fluid and authentic… We are committed to following her limitless vision.”
